We suggest you pull tires and get used to walking with a heavy backpack. The days will be long, so make sure your stamina is up for it.
The Route
After many years of guiding on Svalbard we wanted to make our own take on the traditional East to West. This is the route we came up with. It includes what we consider the most spectacular glacier front, mountain pass, ice cave, valley and riverbed of Spitsbergen. Giving you the full experience of the arctic archipelago in one smal expedition.
Day 1-2 Preperations
After everyone has checked into their hotels and gotten sorted, we will meet and begin packing! We will spend this entire day on our preparations. On the second day we load our gear onto the beltwagon and drive to our starting point for this adventure!
Day 3-10 Skiing
Our route starts close to the East coast, and thats our first goal, Reaching the Bay of Dunér (Dunérbukta) we'll ski out on the sea ice, past the glacier front and turn West. through smal glacier plateous, mountain passes and valleys we'll navigate westwards.
Day 11-12 Back to civilization
Arriving back to Longyearbyen on day 11, all will get the rest of the day of yo dry out your gear and take a shower, The guide taking care of all the common equipment. Earliest departure is the 8th of April
